Land Rover Defender has become significantly more affordable in India. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has started local assembly of Defender 110 at its Pune facility, bringing down ex-showroom prices by up to Rs 34 lakh.
Revised prices apply to selected Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE variants. Locally assembled SUV is offered with three engine options, while Defender 90, Defender 130 and Defender Octa continue to be imported. Here is what has changed, how much each version now costs and what buyers get as standard.

Land Rover Defender Price Cut
The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE is now priced at Rs 99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), down from Rs 1.13 crore. That is a reduction of Rs 14 lakh. The 3.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel versions now cost Rs 1.18 crore each, compared with Rs 1.52 crore earlier, making them cheaper by Rs 34 lakh.
| Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE | Earlier price | New price | Reduction |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.0-litre turbo-petrol | Rs 1.13 crore | Rs 99 lakh | Rs 14 lakh |
| 3.0-litre turbo-petrol | Rs 1.52 crore | Rs 1.18 crore | Rs 34 lakh |
| 3.0-litre diesel | Rs 1.52 crore | Rs 1.18 crore | Rs 34 lakh |
All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi. Earlier and revised prices also reflect changes to equipment, as several features that were previously optional are now included as standard.
Why Has Defender Become Cheaper?
Price reduction follows a shift from importing fully built units to assembling Defender 110 in India. JLR is using completely knocked down (CKD) route, with kits imported from Slovakia and assembled at its Pune facility. Local assembly can reduce duties and costs associated with importing a fully built vehicle, allowing company to offer a lower price.
This local assembly programme currently covers Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE. It should not be confused with a price reduction across every Defender body style or variant.
More Features Are Now Standard
Along with revised prices, locally assembled Defender 110 receives equipment that was previously offered as optional extras. On 2.0-litre petrol version, additional standard equipment is valued at up to Rs 6.5 lakh. It includes adaptive off-road cruise control, air suspension with adaptive dynamics, three-zone climate control, an air purifier and 14-way electrically adjustable front seats with heating, cooling and memory functions.
The 3.0-litre petrol and diesel versions receive additional standard equipment valued at up to Rs 17 lakh. Depending on version, this includes 20-inch wheels, a Meridian surround sound system, a head-up display, an electronic active differential with torque vectoring and heated third-row seats.
Engine Options and Performance
Locally assembled Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE is available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 300hp, a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 400hp and a 3.0-litre diesel engine producing 350hp. These options give buyers a choice between an entry petrol engine, a more powerful petrol setup and a diesel option suited to those who prefer strong pulling power.
Defender remains known for its off-road hardware and ability to handle challenging terrain, while its cabin and equipment offer comfort expected from a premium SUV.
Bookings and Delivery Timeline
Bookings for locally assembled Defender 110 are open through online and authorised dealership channels. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin on November 15, 2026. Buyers should contact their nearest authorised Land Rover retailer to confirm variant availability, waiting periods and final on-road price in their city.
Do Defender 90, 130 and Octa Get the Price Cut?
No. Current local assembly and revised pricing apply to selected Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE versions. Defender 90, Defender 130 and high-performance Defender Octa continue to be imported as fully built units, so price reduction discussed here does not apply to those models.
What the Price Revision Means for Buyers
Starting at Rs 99 lakh ex-showroom, locally assembled Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE now enters below the Rs 1 crore mark. Larger petrol and diesel versions have also received a substantial reduction, while additional equipment is now included in standard package. For buyers considering a luxury off-road SUV, this change makes Defender more accessible than before. However, actual on-road price will vary by location, taxes and insurance, so it is worth checking final quotation with a dealership before booking.
