BMW has started bookings in India for the new BMW X3 30 xDrive. The SUV is scheduled to be launched on February 16, 2026. It will be assembled locally at BMW’s Chennai plant.
This time, BMW is taking a different approach with the X3. In India, the SUV will be sold in only one version called the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro. This means there will be no base or lower-spec variant on offer.
In terms of design, the new X3 carries BMW’s latest styling cues. At the front, it gets a black-finished kidney grille with illumination. The headlamps are LED units, and the bumper design looks sharper than before. From the side, the large alloy wheels and black accents give the SUV a sportier appearance.
At the rear, the taillamps come with a dark finish. There is new X3 badging on the boot lid, along with a black diffuser at the bottom. The door handles sit flush with the body, a feature that is becoming increasingly common in this segment. BMW is offering the X3 in colours such as Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, Tanzanite Blue, Dune Grey, and Alpine White.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard features a large curved screen setup that combines the driver display and the central touchscreen. The system runs on BMW OS 9. Most of the vehicle’s functions can be controlled through the screen and the steering wheel, resulting in fewer physical buttons in the cabin.
The seats are finished in vegan leather upholstery. The front seats get ventilation, memory, and lumbar support. A large glass roof is provided, and the air-conditioning works in three zones, allowing different temperature settings for front and rear occupants.
The SUV is equipped with a head-up display that shows speed and navigation information in the driver’s line of sight. An interior camera can record drives. For audio, a Harman Kardon sound system is included. The vehicle can also be locked and unlocked using a smartphone.
Powering the BMW X3 30 xDrive is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine produces 258 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, with power sent to all four wheels.
According to the company, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in around 6.3 seconds. Multiple driving modes are available to suit city and highway driving. Claimed fuel efficiency stands at around 14.6 kmpl.
BMW has not announced the price yet. However, since the X3 will be sold only in a top-spec version, it is expected to be positioned at the higher end of the segment.
