Volkswagen has released a new teaser of the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus Facelift, giving a first look at the updated sedan ahead of its expected India launch. The teaser, released on November 4, 2026, reveals changes to the front lighting setup, grille and rear design. The updated model is expected to receive several exterior changes while retaining the familiar silhouette of the current Virtus.

The Volkswagen Virtus Facelift is expected to arrive in the Indian market in December 2026. Along with revised styling, the sedan could receive additional cabin features and a possible transmission upgrade. The existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines are expected to continue with the updated model.

Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Teased

The latest teaser gives a closer look at the front section of the Volkswagen Virtus Facelift. The updated sedan appears to feature redesigned LED headlamps with a revised daytime running light signature. One of the noticeable changes is the slim LED light bar running across the front grille, connecting the lighting elements on both sides.

The front grille also appears to feature an illuminated Volkswagen logo, giving the sedan a different appearance compared to the current model. The lower bumper is expected to receive revised air intakes and sharper detailing. Meanwhile, the overall bonnet shape and side profile are likely to remain largely unchanged. The GT badge also appears to continue on the updated model.

New Rear LED Tail Lamps

The rear section of the Volkswagen Virtus Facelift also receives styling changes. The teaser reveals redesigned LED tail lamps with a sharper lighting pattern. Unlike the front, the rear tail lamps appear as separate units, without a connecting LED light bar across the boot lid.

The rear bumper is also expected to receive revised detailing, while the overall boot design and body proportions could remain similar to the existing sedan. New alloy wheel designs are another possible addition to the updated model. These changes are expected to give the Virtus a refreshed appearance without altering its familiar sedan profile.

Interior And Expected Features

Volkswagen has not revealed the interior of the updated Virtus yet. However, the facelift is expected to receive some changes to the cabin, including updated upholstery, revised interior detailing and additional convenience features.

The current model comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a single-pane electric sunroof and wireless smartphone connectivity. The updated sedan could receive a larger digital instrument cluster, an improved infotainment interface and additional connected-car features. A powered driver’s seat and improved ambient lighting are also among the expected additions.

Engine And Transmission Options

The Volkswagen Virtus Facelift is expected to retain its existing turbo-petrol engine options. The current model is available with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI engine producing 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque. This engine is currently offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The second option is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI engine that produces 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. One possible mechanical update is an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI variant, replacing the existing 6-speed automatic unit. However, Volkswagen has not officially confirmed this transmission change yet.

Price And Launch Date

The updated Volkswagen Virtus is expected to make its India debut in December 2026. According to reports, the company could unveil the facelift towards the end of November or early December before starting its market launch. The exact launch date and delivery schedule have not been announced by Volkswagen.

In terms of pricing, the Volkswagen Virtus Facelift could start at around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The final price will depend on the variant lineup and equipment offered with the updated sedan. Once launched, the new Virtus will continue to compete against the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and Honda City in the Indian market.
